October Fall Harvest Halloween Part 1

Welcome to the grand re-opening of Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Invent. This is our very first challenge and we invite you to join us in all the fun and festivities. Just like any party, we have lots of games and some special treats planned for you, so be sure to visit us often or you may just miss Something Specular.

We are a fortnight challenge and will have 2 challenges per month, but since this month many countries celebrate Fall, Harvest & Halloween Our Overall Theme/Bonus Round for this entire month is October, Fall, Harvest and Halloween and we want to see anything and everything having to do with these themes in the projects you submit to us. It's a pretty broad theme with lots of spooky wiggle room and here are a just a few ideas to get you started. Think: Traditional colors for these holidays, Rustling leaves, Scarecrows, Big Round Pumpkins, Black Cats and Bats, Rattling Skeletons, Big Witches and Little Witches, and everything else that is Ghoulish and has an air of Spookiness to it. After all who doesn’t mind being just a teeny bit scared on Halloween when we know it's all in Fun! For those of you who do not Celebrate Halloween: Please feel free to pick from the alternatives suggested above ie Fall, Pumpkins, Scarecrows, etc.

Most importantly ... Have Fun and Don't Forget to Recycle, Re-Purpose or Re-Invent!
And now for some Wonderful  Examples from our  Fabulous Design Team
 Judy McKay
Halloween Door Hanger
Using 4 images from CS Designs

Recycled material used
cereal  box for the backing of the Shrunken heads
Padlock found at a Thrift Store and used on a previous years Halloween Door Hanger
I used several recycle items for the project.  The top of the tea-light is made from a couple of different ribbon rolls, buttons are from a old top, the card board for the top and bottom of the tea-light is a cereal box and the acetate was from some packaging.  The ribbon came from a box of chocolates.
These were two old tiles I just tossed in a corner hoping I would think of something I could use them for one day.  When I saw this Edgar Allan Poe image I knew it would  be perfect for the old tiles.  I used two CS Designs for this project - one for the background design and of course Edgar Allan Poe on the top with just a hint of red cardstock between the two. I used mod podge to seal and protect and I am going to use these as paper weights in my craft room.
This project was made from wood container I found at a yard sale several months ago.  I thought it would fun to use this for my first DT project. The container was an off white so I didn't need to paint it.  I added some black dye ink to give it a distressed look. I colored the adorable image called "Arabesque" from CS Designs with Copic Markers.
I created a this wonderful halloween mini album from recycled items
and several of CS Design's wonderful images.

Below is a closer look at CS Designs images.

I had alot of fun making this album and recycling some interesting items including a bag some oranges came in and the metal spring from a pen that I cut and used in several places.
